A display for every need

Founded in 1938, Samsung has grown into a multi-billion dollar company with corporate offices in the United States and Hong Kong. This company offers everything from printers to mobile phones to refrigerators, but specializes in computers and TVs. Samsung has several screen models - LCD digital, LCD analog, LCD multifunctional and CRT - and the company offers detailed information about each one on its Web site, but you have to dig for the prices. Expect to pay anywhere from around US$200 to over US$2,000, depending on the type and size of the monitor.

Here is a selection of current Samsung monitors:

SyncMaster 931B - This 19-inch digital LCD monitor is on the lower end of the price scale. It is said to produce crisp, bright images with a 700:1 contrast ratio. Users can choose from either a digital or analog interface for viewing, and the monitor comes with a three-year warranty. The average price is US$280.

SyncMaster 740BF - This is a 17-inch LCD with digital and analog capabilities. It boasts an incredibly fast response time of 2 milliseconds and features special Samsung software to brighten and sharpen images. The average price for this display is US$250.

SyncMaster 910MP-Silver - This 19-inch analog TFT-LCD is multi-functional. It has several built-in features, such as a TV tuner, speakers and power supply. It has a sleek look and a wide viewing angle. Its average price is US$500.

SyncMaster 930MP-Silver - A step up from the 910MP, this 19-inch analog and digital TFT-LCD offers a lot. It has a high 1000:1 contrast ratio for bright, clean images and has a 178-degree viewing angle. It also uses many built-in features, like a radio tuner, TV tuner and power supply, plus it comes with three brightness settings. The average price is US$700.

SyncMaster 920N - This is a 19-inch TFT LCD analog monitor. It has a 700:1 contrast ratio for quality images and a 160-degree viewing angle (which is the standard angle). It has built-in power and it’s slimmer, compared to some other models. Its average price is US$240.

SyncMaster 793DF-T/T - This 17-inch CRT flat screen monitor is one of six CRT monitors offered by Samsung. It features three brightness modes for use in different applications and has a horizontal dot pitch of 0.20 millimeters. It is compatible with both PCs and Macs. The average price is US$140.
