Flat Panel Monitors

Choosing a flat panel monitor

When choosing a flat panel display, it is good to have an understanding of how the monitor will be used, how much it will cost, and what types of monitors there are. Flat panel monitors come in different sizes and prices ranges. Understand that screen resolution is directly related to the screen size. The larger the screen, the more pixels and the better the resolution will be.

If you work in a design field or if you are an avid gamer, getting a large widescreen flat panel monitor will enhance the experience. Know what options are available, as some flat panels are HDTV and Dolby 5.1 equipped. If it’s not being going to be used for entertainment, these options are an unnecessary added expense.

Flat Panel LCD Monitors

Many notebook computers use a TFT LCD flat panel monitor. The reason for this is that LCD is cheaper than plasma, but still provides a super thin body. It’s important to understand TFT monitors to get the best results from your notebook monitor. The viewing angle is critical for LCD flat panel computer monitors. Too small of a viewing angle will result in picture color distortion and even pixel viewing loss. The more severe the angle, the worst the image will become.

Desktop flat panel computer monitors are becoming increasingly popular as prices have dropped. The monitors come in a variety of sizes and are super thin. This allows the consumer to purchase a much wider monitor and still have desk space. Large CRT monitors would be far too deep to fit comfortably on a desk and still have room for peripherals such as keyboard, mouse and coffee. Working on these monitors allows the user to change all sorts of settings to make the experience as pleasurable as possible.

Purchase a model that allows for a selection of frame refresh rates. Changing this option from the standard 60 hertz to something different will help with eye strain. Fluorescent lights found in the most offices flicker at 60 hertz and this will make the monitor seem to flicker as it’s refreshing out of sync with the lights. Purchasing a flat panel monitor with a little education and understanding will save money as well as make looking at that monitor more bearable.
